Saturday Music Centre Bath

Our Saturday sessions are for wind, brass, percussion, guitar and keyboard players, inclusive of those who have recently started playing, through to advanced musicians. There’s also opportunities to learn a wind or brass instrument from scratch.

Starter Group (Woodwind and Brass)

A shorter session for beginners, running from 9.40-10.40am. For those young musicians who have recently started playing.

Other ensembles

These run 9.30-12 noon, with a break for tuck. Young musicians can choose ensembles from both first and second sessions:

First session: 9.30-10.35am

• Training Band: For Grade 1-3.
• B&NES Youth Wind Band: For Grades 3-8.
• Guitar Ensemble (all levels) 

NB: guitarists can opt for just the first session or join the keyboard ensemble if they want to stay a full morning.

Second Session: 10.55-12 noon

• B&NES Youth Jazz Orchestra (BYJO):
• Woodwind Ensemble: For Grade 3 standard and above.
• Keyboard Ensemble: For Beginners to Grade 5. (Training band and guitar ensemble players welcome to join in to learn keyboard skills).

Wednesday Music Centre Bath

Our Wednesday evening sessions run term-time for string players who have recently started, advanced strings, plus advanced wind, brass and percussion.

• Stringendo (Starter Strings) 5.45 – 6.45pm
  Learner ensemble for violin, viola, cello or double bass.
• Corda Strings 5.45 – 7.45pm
  For string players of Grade 1-5 standard
• B&NES Youth Orchestra 5.45 – 7.45pm
  Full orchestra for string players of Grade 5 and above, plus advanced orchestral woodwind, brass and percussion players.

Adult Ensembles

• Beginner Ensemble for Adults 5.45 – 6.45pm
  For adults to learn a wind or brass instrument in a group lesson

• Adult Wind Band 6.50 – 7.50pm
  For wind, brass and percussion of grade 6 and above standard to play quality wind band music.
