Instrumental and Voice Lessons

Music lessons are delivered by specialist instrumental and vocal teachers in school during the school day on the requested instrument, at times negotiated between WEMA and the school.

We offer this service directly to parent/carers (lessons are still delivered in your school) or schools can buy tuition by the hour. The choice is yours; please contact us if you would like to discuss the differences. We offer relaxed tuition that allows children to learn instruments at their pace and is tailored to their needs. There is no need to learn musical notation if that is a barrier, and we can offer alternative methods of notation such as Figurenotes, which uses colours and shapes to support visual processing.

We provide:
– Music lessons for groups or for individual students lasting for a minimum of 20 minutes on a weekly basis through term time.
– A progressive teaching and learning programme with regular monitoring and access to qualification routes if required.

We ask schools to:
– Provide a suitable learning environment for the lesson.
– Maintain communication with our staff about potential changes to the visit schedule.

We ask parents/carers to:
– Encourage learning, particularly playing at home and taking part in ensemble activity between lessons.
– Purchase relevant music books and consumables e.g. strings, reeds.
– Pay for examination fees and related costs.

The fee includes:
– A fully vetted and managed Music Teacher.
– Additional opportunities to support the learning process e.g. music theory, examinations, orchestras, bands and choirs, advice and guidance on instrumental purchase.
– Secondary schools receive information regarding Y6 transfers.

We recommend:
– Individual lessons of 20 or 30 minutes
– 20 minutes lesson shared by 2 students
– 30 minute lesson shared by 3 – 4 students
– A minimum visit time to a school of 30 minutes.

Cost: Schools are charged an hourly rate of £47
