Music Makers, from the WEMA Creative Health team, is a series of music workshops for young people with additional needs and their families, across North Somerset, South Gloucestershire and BANES.

Creative music sessions for young people with additional needs and their families.
11th & 18th August

10.30am to 12.00 Family Session
Join in with the whole family for a fun and relaxed musical activity session. Expect songs, musical games and a chance to explore musical instruments and make your own music together! Our music leaders will guide us through musical activities which allow everyone to participate in the way that’s best for them. We encourage creativity, there is no right or wrong, and no previous experience is needed!
1.00pm to 2.30pm Complex needs session
A session for young people with complex needs and their family members or supporting adults. These sessions will be held at a slow and calm pace and allow plenty of time for the music leaders to find ways that each young person can participate. We have a range of accessible musical instruments and technology that allow different ways of playing even if movement is limited.
We will have a high ratio of staff to ensure that your child can participate to their full potential, however we are unable to offer physical or medical support. If your child needs 1-1 support or personal care, we ask that they attend with an adult who can provide this. Changing facilities are available at the school. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact us.
Please note – wheelchair users can attend either session, please choose the session that best fits your child’s learning or communication needs. The sessions are aimed at children aged 5 to 12, but all welcome if you feel the session would be a good fit! Session are FREE but booking is essential.
Family Music-Makers Sessions with NSPCWT
We’re delighted to be partnering with North Somerset Parents and Carers to bring you two fantastic Music Makers days this summer:

- Monday 17th August
Come along for fun, inclusive and relaxed musical sessions where the whole family can enjoy songs, musical games, explore instruments and create music together. No musical experience is needed—just come along and have fun!
Family Music Makers Sessions
- 10.00am–11.00am
- 11.30am–12.30pm
Wheelchair User & Complex Needs Session (Monday 17th August only)
- 1.15pm–2.15pm
This smaller, slower-paced session is designed to support young people who are wheelchair users or have complex needs, with accessible instruments and technology to ensure everyone can take part. (Wheelchair users are also very welcome to attend the morning family sessions if they prefer.)
The Firs is fully accessible and has a dedicated Changing Places space, helping more families to attend comfortably. Please arrive 15 minutes before your session to enjoy a drink and settle in.
Places are limited, so booking is essential.
We will also be dropping into the NSPCWT Family Stay and Play Sessions.
On 27th July Guillem will be offering short 1-1 slots for young people with complex needs, using Soundbeam, a fantastic accessible instrument.
On 12th August, Luke will be there showing us different types of drums and percussion!

SEND Family Music Sessions with BANES Parent Carer Forum
Wednesday 26th August 10.00am to 12.00 and 1.00-3.00pm
Sessions take place at the Hive, Peasedown St John, Bath, BA2 8DH
We are joining forces with BANES Parent Carer Forum to offer creative music workshops for children with additional needs and their families. These workshops are a wonderful chance to explore different musical instruments with no prior knowledge or ability needed.
The sessions are hugely popular, with children and young people of all ages joining in and creating music themselves in a fun, relaxed environment.

Free SEND Music sessions in Bradley Stoke. These sessions are a partnership between Bradley Stoke Town Council & WEMA
- 27th August, Baileys Court Activity Centre
Join us for some relaxed and creative music sessions for young people with additional needs.
- 10.30am-12.00 Music-making session for SEND children aged 5 to 12 and their families.
- 2.00-4.00pm Music tech session for SEND young people aged 13-18. Explore your sound and create your own music.
