Small Groups
We work with young people identified by schools as requiring extra support with social and emotional needs, in 45-minute music sessions for small groups. These run weekly for 8-10 weeks.
The music sessions will be creative and adapted to the needs of the students. They will be led by our practitioners and there will always be two staff from our creative health team: either music therapists or wellbeing practitioners. We use a trauma-informed approach, with an aim of improving wellbeing with a view to improving engagement with and motivation in school.
We support students with a range of social, emotional and mental health difficulties; these difficulties often mean that they find the curriculum and classroom hard to access. The groups will aim to lessen anxiety and help boost a positive sense of self and belonging.
There will be a chance to both create and explore different styles of music and for students to find their own creative voice and sense of self in a safe and held space. There will be time for listening to music as well using other artistic media.
Whole Class Wellbeing Programme
For our whole class wellbeing programme, we visit your setting, initially for a morning or afternoon, during which time we will:
- Work with 3 classes/groups for 60 or 90 mins per class for FS, KS1 and 2
- Deliver a 30 minute CPD session for staff
- Leave you with a resource pack and a recommended musical track for each activity.
The programme offers accessible five-minute activities to be used by any teacher or school practitioner. The activities use recognised wellbeing techniques and connect to ‘5 Ways To Wellbeing’. These methods are used by the NHS and mental health charity Mind.
