Building connections between schools and creative practitioners to offer young people quality cultural education opportunities in the West of England.
The West of England Cultural Education Hub has a transformative vision – to give every child in the region the chance to engage with inspiring cultural activities, both in school and beyond, supporting them to achieve their aspirations and gain access to a broad range of cultural activity.
Our two-year project, made possible with the funding of West of England Combined Authority and Arts Council England, will support schools and education settings to create even greater value for each child, utilising the talent of a wide pool of creative practitioners in the region, while also offering CPD opportunities for teachers in creative and cultural subjects.
We are keen to create a diverse range of activities that support your school and students, which celebrates local and regional experience and diversity . These opportunities would be delivered through interactive sessions and workshops for your students. Cultural organisations in the region will also work with your teachers to offer exciting learning opportunities for them.
The project will also build skills and forge opportunities for cultural practitioners across the region, helping form sustainable partnerships between education settings and the creative and cultural industries. We will be offering funding and training packages to the practitioners, to ensure they deliver high quality and inspiring workshops and activities.
CPD will be fully-funded and generous funding is available to enable schools to take part in the offer from creative practitioners. We are building an initial cohort of 40 creative practitioners ready to deliver their activities from Oct/Nov 2024 to July 2025.
We believe this innovative new program will add benefit to your school, so we will be getting in contact soon with more details of what is on offer and how you can take part. In the meantime, if you have any specific things that you would like to ask or share, we are keen to hear from you.
Please email kerry.vernon@wema.org.uk, so we can help shape our programme to enhance and support the cultural education you already provide.
