The West of England Youth Folk Ensemble

Sign up for our launch workshop day here

WEYFE is the youth folk instrumental group serving the West of England region, provided by the B&NES, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Music Education Alliance.

We are launching the group with a special workshop day, hosted by the English Folk Dance and Song Society, on Sunday 8th May. If you are not able to attend or are not eligible, don’t worry – let us know via the contact page that you are interested and we will contact you soon with information about new groups in your area for all ages and abilities.

The workshop day is open to all instrumentalists, age 12 to 18 and will be held at our South Gloucestershire base at Little Stoke, 5 mins from the M4/M5 and M4/M32 junctions. Orchestral, rock and pop and world music instruments are all welcome. During the day we will explore folk tunes, create our own music and learn songs by ear.

The day will be led by folk music specialists from the iconic English Folk Dance and Song Society. See their website for more information about their work.

You can sign up here. Places are limited and will be allocated in order of receipt of application. There is no charge for the day; the workshop is fully funded by the EFDSS. All we ask is that once you are offered a place, you commit to attending the full day.

More information about regular groups in your area will be available soon after the launch day.
