West of England Youth Symphony Orchestra and Wind Orchestra

The West of England Music Alliance’s Youth Orchestra (WESO) and Wind Orchestra (WEWO) is for young people who want to enjoy playing in an advanced level, large-scale ensemble. We perform standard and new music from the classical and popular repertoire.

WESO 2022

We meet occasionally during the year for short courses, building up to a performance in July each year.

If you would like to join, you’ll be an orchestral instrumentalist or grade 5 (or equivalent) and above. We don’t have an age limit, but most of our players are in school year 7 and above. We also accept players up to approx 21 years old, but, where there are limit seats (eg wind/brass) we give priority to players still at school.

Our 2022-23 season comprises short courses in February and in the Easter holidays, with a final course in July. The July course is a 4-day residential at Monmouth School for Girls. We will then give our final performance back at home in the West of England.
