WEMA is honoured to be among the finalists for the National Arts and Cultural Education Awards from Curious Minds. We have been chosen for the new Innovators in Engagement Award, alongside a great group of other finalists, including the National Youth Theatre and Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
The new Innovators in Engagement category celebrates individuals and organisations which are working to transform youth participation in the arts.
In total 25 judges, drawn from across the arts, cultural and education sectors, reviewed more than 250 submissions across all 10 award categories, and the standard was exceptionally high.
The Awards will take place Wednesday 21st October at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, hosted by Bristol comedian Jayde Adams.
WEMA CEO Simon Lock said he was delighted with this national recognition: “This is not just for the organisation, but for our staff, teachers, and creative practitioners, and most of all for the young artists and musicians and the communities we serve, helping make music, arts and culture accessible and affordable for all”.
